College Essay Bootcamp – August 7, 8, 10; 5pm – 8pm

This is a writing and reflection workshop for rising high school seniors wishing to get a start on their College Application Essay. Students begin the workshop by defining the values they are seeking in a university and then defining their own educational values. Through that lens, students then reflect on the value and function of the essay and the stories in their lives. They brainstorm several topics and stories, begin drafting the essay for their college application, and receive feedback from the instructor and peers. This is an intensive nine hour workshop that goes beyond the simple scope of writing an essay and into the realm of deep reflection about the college application process.

Cost: $150 ($50 deposit required at time of registration.)

Middle Level Workshop – August 21-25; 8am – 10am

This is a workshop for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders who wish to understand writing as a process. This workshop will focus on the skills of prewriting, organization, transitions, and revising. We will practice both narrative and analytical writing in order to strengthen these process skills. Students will have one novel on which some of our writing will be based to be read before the class begins.

Cost: $130 (includes the cost of the novel)
